Xere

Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR)

The CKGR is one of the largest game reserves on earth — a vast, ancient landscape of fossil river valleys, grasslands, and a silence so profound it becomes an experience in itself. A Xere camp would anchor Etela's Kalahari offering, connecting guests to the black-maned lions, brown hyenas, and San cultural heritage that make the central Kalahari like nowhere else on the continent.

Kaudwane

Khutse Game Reserve

Khutse adjoins the southern CKGR and remains one of Botswana's least visited protected areas — an accessible, intimate wilderness with pan systems that attract seasonal concentrations of wildlife and outstanding night skies. Tsodilo Hills

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most spiritually significant landscapes in Africa, the Tsodilo Hills contain over 4,500 rock paintings spanning thousands of years of San history. An Etela presence here would be a deeply considered cultural lodge — one that centres San knowledge, artistic heritage, and storytelling as the primary safari experience, adding an entirely new dimension to what the Etela Circuit can offer.

Phuduhudu

Nxai Pan Area

Nxai Pan National Park is one of Botswana's most underrated wilderness jewels — a fossil lake bed fringed by ancient baobabs and flooded seasonally to attract one of Africa's most dramatic zebra migrations. A Phuduhudu camp would give Etela a presence in the northern Makgadikgadi ecosystem, offering guests a distinct pan experience that complements Etela Makgadikgadi with a focus on the baobab landscape, big sky photography, and the extraordinary concentration of game that follows the rains.

Khumaga

Boteti Riverfront

The Boteti River forms the western boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve and is one of Botswana's most underexplored wildlife corridors. During the dry season, the river becomes a critical lifeline drawing enormous herds of zebra, wildebeest, and predators to its banks. A Khumaga riverfront lodge would anchor this corridor for Etela, offering guests a riverine safari experience entirely distinct from the open pans — intimate, water-focused, and rich in predator activity.
